STAMFORD CONNECTICUT: More Than Dozen Vehicles Burn At Pesach Program, 1,000 Guests Evacuated From Hotel

More than a dozen vehicles were damaged or destroyed in a big fire at the parking lot of the Armon Hotel in Stamford Connecticut where the “Chop A Nosh” Pesach program was held.

Fire alarms began ringing at around 5:00AM, forcing more than 1,000 guests out of the hotel and into the street.

Fire officials said the structure had been compromised and firefighters were ordered to get out of the garage, according to the fire department. They fought the fire from outside.

A guest at the hotel told YWN the following: “Attendees were evacuated to the front lobby outdoors, including elderly and newborns. Everyone was well behaved, and Davening started outdoors at 8:00AM when the building was deemed safe. By 10:30AM, guests were allowed back to their rooms.

Bichasdei Hashem, no injuries were reported, although some were scared or cold this morning. The kitchen was shut down due to carbon monoxide levels, but Chop A Nosh still managed to create a lavish buffet for all.

Most of all, it was a tremendous Kiddush Hashem, with over 1,000 men, women and children all helping each other, and everyone evacuating in an orderly manner.

The Stamford fire marshal is investigating.

  1. I was a guest at this program, and I have to say kudos to the amazing hotel and program staff in their handling of this unfortunate event. Everything was kept under control (keep in mind this was a program with over 1,000 guests kn”h) and everyone was so positive!

  2. Going away for Pesach

3 strikes should be a chazaka and a siman you belong home

    Atlantic City
    Stamford
    Rain all week in orlando

  3. Baruch Hashem no one got hurt.
I am so happy to hear that everyone is okay.
I am not going to shoot out a comment like “Pesach, you belong at home”. Every single person carries a whole big story. I am sure that if we were in their shoes, we would also go away for Pesach.

  4. B”H I observe 1 day יום-טוב in accordance with תורה law, so as not to be מבטל Eight מצוות עשה מן-התורה to lay תפילין, hence had already departed Wednesday evening מוצאי יום-טוב ראשון של שביעי של פסח and merited not to have my car 🚗 incinerated by this fire 🔥

  5. to 147 . EVERY SINGLE POSEK IN THE WORLD HOLDS THAT IT IS ASSUR FOR A PERSON FROM ERETZ YISRAEL TO DO MELOCHOH (ORE VEN PUT ON TEFFILIN) PUBLICLY ON YOM TOV SHENI IN CHUTZ LAARETZ> SO TO ANYONE SEEING THAT COMMENT THAT INDIVIDUAL IS FLAGRANTLY VIOLATING HALACHA AND FLAUNTING IT AS WELL A SPEWING UTTER NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    YWN TAKE DOWN THAT COMMMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. reform jews and apikorsim should not be allowed to post their reform version of judiasm on a torah site and pretend it ha sanything to do with the torah

  7. 147 Wow! Very disappointing! Now I understand where many of your previous comments come from!
So if you don’t hold of Yom Tov Sheni, because it is not “תורה law”, how do you know what תפילין looks like?
How do you know what sound “ת” stands for? How about “פ”? No Mesorah = no Torah!

  8. 147 clearly insinuates he does not believe in keeping yom tov sheini shel galuyos at the expense of the Torah commandment of tefillin (unless he cares to clarify his words). How does YWN allow this מינות and apikorsus to stay up? Moderator, please, please show the comment to any Orthodox rabbi and ask if it may stay up. Perhaps we the readership should all stand up and be mocheh for the honor of our Sages and their decrees. Here is me doing my part:
I am hereby mocheh against the terrible anti-Torah sentiments of 147 which are a bizayon to our holy chachamim and normative halacha in all Jewish Diaspora communities for millennia and smack of מינות and apikorsus. I urge 147 to retract his comments or clarify how his statements fit into the framework of Jewish law as prescribed in the Talmud and Shulchan Aruch.
