The ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) has taken over the investigation into the gas line sabotage in three Jerusalem buildings. ISA agents are working with a special Jerusalem Police taskforce.
While Armon HaNatziv is a neighborhood of Yerushalayim, it is situated adjacent to predominately Arab areas of the capital such as Jabil Mukhaber and security officials confirm that the community has been targeted by terrorists in the past.
In this latest case, the gas lines of three apartment buildings, home to 50 families, were cut. In one of the three buildings on Shlomo Ben-Yosef Robovich a candle was lit near the cut lines. B’chasdei Hashem a tenant who smelled the gas and possibly went out to check saw the burning candle and blew it out. Investigators are operating on the premise that the “incident” was an attempted terror attack that could have had disastrous results R”L.
B”H the gas company technician was quick to respond along with the fire department. This led to a rapid evacuation of the 50 families while bringing the situation under control, shutting down the flow of gas.
