Snow But Not In Jerusalem: Israel Prepares For Storm “Barbara”

Following the return of cold temperatures and rain to Israel last week, the Jewish state is bracing for storm Barbara, which is making its way from Greece to Israel.

Beginning on Monday at noon, the weather will become stormy with rain in the north and center. There will be a drop in temperatures throughout the country accompanied by strong winds with gusts of over 100 km/hr.

A significant amount of rain is expected as well as snow on the peaks of the high mountains in the north. There are flood warnings in the Dead Sea and Midbar Yehuda.

Temperatures will continue to drop and Tuesday is expected to be the coldest day of the winter this season. Snow will continue to fall on the Hermon, as well as in the northern Golan and possibly also in the Shomron. However, to the dismay of many Jerusalem residents, snow is not expected in the capital city.

The winds are expected to subside by Wednesday and storm Barbara is expected to pass altogether by Thursday.
