FINALLY: Infamous Covid Hawk Admits U.S. is Overestimating Covid Hospitalizations, Deaths [SEE THE VIDEO]

A Washington Post columnist who got herself national attention by being one of the most outspoken Covid hawks in the country has admitted that the U.S. is overestimating the number of Covid hospitalizations and deaths in the country.

Dr. Leana Wen, who writes for the Post and was once the president of Planned Parenthood, finally made the admission after speaking with Dr. Shira Doron, who helped reveal that between July 2022 and this month, just 30% of Massachusetts hospital patients with covid were hospitalized because of covid.

Doron told Wen that at times “the proportion of those hospitalized because of Covid were as low as 10 percent of the total number reported.”

“As a result of vaccines and as a result of a lot of people getting Covid and having some level of immunity to it, we’re seeing far fewer cases of that kind of severe Covid,” Wen said on CNN.

“And yet, hospitals are still routinely testing everyone who’s getting admitted for Covid, and so we’re seeing many people who are hospitalized with Covid, and I think it’s important to separate out who’s being hospitalized because of it.”

Wen’s change of tune is a 180-degree turn from what she long pushed for: tighter Covid measures, including wearing heavy-duty masks in public. Last December she insisted that “everyone, including children, should be wearing at least a 3-ply surgical mask when indoors & around others of unknown vaccination status.”

  1. This YWN article does not accurately reflect her views in the CNN interview, her opinion piece in The Washington Post , or her view on stricter covid measures.

She is talking about in January 2023 how we can accurately currently determine the current number of actual deaths from covid itself , covid as a contributing factor and covid not contributing to the death.

Everyone can decide for themselves by listening to the CNN interview.

I will copy and paste The Washington Post piece if anybody requests. Her Washington Post piece is based on interviews with two infectious-disease experts Robin Dretler, an attending physician at Emory Decatur Hospital and the former president of Georgia’s chapter of Infectious Diseases Society of America, and Shira Doron.

She has not changed her mind on the seriousness of Covid.

  2. Also, while it may vary from place to place, it is certainly not normal in my experience to test every admitted patient for COVID.

  3. she doesnt have a masked picture on her twitter profile. I cant take someone like that seriously. You either a hardcore maskaholic or you arent. She isnt.

  4. whether she is quoted correctly or not, it is correct that number of “cases” currently is not a good measure of anything. And even “number of deaths” from Covid may not be reliable. There is a later-coming “excess deaths” count that is 1-2 months late. This count stays constant from June 2022 of 500 persons per day (or 200,000 per year). None of other effects – flu, drugs, missed cancer appointments, vaccine can not explain these numbers at their highest possible estimate, so they are mostly due to Covid.

As to local outbursts, see biobot for sewer measurements that gives you covid rates for different cities. In most places, there was a peak for last 2 months that is going down now.

  5. These people cannot let go of covid because it has become their new religion. Just like all the other lefty causes out there, these people need something, to make their life feel meaningful.
