SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Monday, day 41 of the virtual Gaza ceasefire.

*Today is Gilad Shalit’s 765th day in Hamas captivity.

*The incoming Shomron IDF Commander Brig.-Gen. Itzik Bar has announced that anyone not having a valid identity card with an address in Shomron will not be permitted to pass checkpoints into Shomron.

*An Arab concealing a knife was taken into custody near Beit Hadassah in Chevron on Sunday night.

*IDF soldiers involved in counter-terrorism operations throughout Yehuda and Shomron arrested 8 suspects. The suspects in custody were turned over to ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) agents for interrogation.

*A bus was damaged in a rock-throwing attack near el-Fuar south of Chevron on Sunday night. There were no injuries.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*Former IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Uzi Dayan has joined the Likud Party according to media reports. When asked to confirm, Dayan would not confirm or deny the report.

*Kosel Rav Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz reports the ‘kvitel’ taken from the Kosel that was written by Senator Barak Obama has been replaced on Sunday.

*Minister of Negev Development Yaakov Edri is calling for the expulsion of Bedouins who have illegally settled on state-owned land in southern Israel.

*Finance Ministry planning to save NIS 155 million by eliminating security for the nation’s schools in the coming year.

*Foreign Ministry officials report no Israeli causalities are being reported in the double bombing attack in Istanbul.
