Speaking with Galei Yisrael Radio on Wednesday, 26 Adar II, chareidi attorney and askan Dov Halbertal spoke of the tensions that exist as a result of today’s political realities in Eretz Yisrael, primarily due to the effort to draft chareidim.
He explained “An avreich was my guest on Shabbos, a very serious avreich and he said ‘You know, there is going to be another Rabin assassination. Yair Lapid is going to be assassinated by a chareidi. We are not far from this’”.
Halbertal explained he is not concerned with what the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) and others will say, for he is simply quoting another who is reading the political situation, not chas v’sholom planning such an act himself.

Played right into Lapid’s hands. Now Lapid is the victim. Lapid has nothing to worry about. Like his father before him, he will die a simple person having accomplished nothing of consequence.
Why would anyone bother to kill Pretty Boy? He is nothing more than a talking head feed his lines by the people who put him in office. There is something very strange about this story. The timing of events is too good. Just as the Shaked Committee is being ridiculed for spending so much time on getting the Hareidim but some how neglected to define Hareidi, this pops up.
While shooting people for political reasons has a long tradition among the zionists, it isn’t our style. If the zionists start using force against hareidim, there will probably be more of a reaction.
Terrorism only works if you can follow through with military force (as the zionists did in the 1940s) – otherwise all it does is make everyone made at you. This has been the experience of the nationalists who shot Rabin, not to mention the Palestinians who turned down many offers that far exceed anything they even have hope of getting through terrorism. Raising an army and conquering Eretz Yisrael from the zionists is NOT an option, isn’t realistic, and is probably prohibitted for the same reasons it was halachically dubious for the zionists to start their conquering binge (which is how we got into the current mess)
Offering to give political support to the zionist’s enemies may be a more credible threat, assuming those enemies have the brains to figure out how to exploit it.
The attorney in question is on faculty at the Hebrew University, and is a former civil servant – so he’s clearly part of the pro-zionist hareidi leadership that has been discredited by the back stabbing from Lapid/Bennett/Netanyahu.
Poor darling – as if he has not enticed the whole country against the Hareidi world, and now HE is scared, aha.
Didn’t Rav Meier’s wife wisely caution him that although sins should be liquidated, the sinners should be spared? All of this talk about assassination is incitement that will likely lead to tragedy. Let’s work out our differences with mediation and negotiation.
Its not only chareidim who hate lapid but the secular youth as well. Taxes have gone up and he has slashed funding to everyone. He is probably more hated than the pres of ukraine.
Nice to know that one “self proclaimed Navi” (assuming this lawyer’s words are true) represents the Klal.
Furthermore, assuming that Dov Halbertal is being quoted properly, I would not want him as my attorney. That was a very foolhardy thing to say. I’m sure that’s going to help bring shalom in Israel.
We need to listen to and follow our Gedolim. That and nothing else. If threats need to be said let them state it, not us.
