Family of Missing ‘669’ Officer Asking for Public Assistance

The family of missing Israel Air Force ‘669’ Search & Rescue officer Captain Avner Bardougo are turning to the public, seeking monetary assistance to launch a search for their son.

Bardougo disappeared in a Laos boating accident on Friday (25 July). Israel’s consul general in Vietnam is working with the family, who are hopeful their 25-year-old son is alive and survived the rafting accident.

A colleague of Bardougo survived the incident and called for assistance. He stated that if anyone can survive, Avner can, citing his extraordinary abilities as a result of his air force training and service in the elite unit. A search team composed of four soldiers who serve under Bardougo are traveling to Laos to assist in search efforts.

Family members explain they desperately need funds to pay for rescue efforts. Those in Israel wishing to donate may do so by sending an SMS text message to *3377 with the words “Chilutz”. Each message will result in a NIS 10 donation.
