The initial meeting of the newly formed Jewish Community Council of Marine Park took place recently, with a keynote address by New York State Assemblyman Alan Maisel (D-Marine Park).
Marine Park is home to over 800 Orthodox Jewish families and 13 synagogues. The JCC plans on offering a variety of services to the Marine Park community at-large. Their first endeavor is a comprehensive voter registration drive that will hopefully result in the new registration of over 1,500 people in Marine Park. The JCC is also going to advocate on issues of concern to the community, such as zoning and quality of life.
Assemblyman Maisel and Councilman Lew Fidler and Deputy Inspector Frank V. Cangiarella from the 63rd Precinct have committed to work with the organization and assist in anyway possible.
Jeff (Yanky) Leb, a co-founder of the JCC of Marine Park, “It is high time that our community has one voice that will advocate for the needs of our community. The JCC of Marine Park is that voice and I am privileged to be working with its devoted membership.” These sentiments were echoed by co-founder Josh Rubenstein who said, “The Council will provide important and vital services to our constituency throughout Marine Park.”
Yossi Sharf, council treasurer, said he was looking forward to be able to spend money on various projects that will help Marine Park grow and unite. Co-founder Shua Gelbstein added that he was pelased with the enthusiasm, turnout and number of people offering to volunteer for various projects.

B”H, This is a tremendous benefit to the tzibbur. The Rav of that community is a big ben torah.
“The Rav of that community”?
I understand there are several.
there’s not just one Rov. There’s about 5 or so..Rav Fried shlit”a and Rav Fink shlit”a are the rabbonim of the young israel of bedford bay…there’s the Naroler Rebbe shlit”a and his beis medrash, Rav Weidenboum used to have a shul on nostrand..I heard it’s now being housed somewhere else in marine park though. There’s also a shul called bnei torah(not the kollel), and a new branch of torah vodaa’s yeshiva katana is opening up nearby
