Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Thursday met in his office with opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu in order to update him on current affairs.

It is customary for senior government officials to meet with the opposition leader from time-to-time to update him.

The minister’s military secretary and operations office were also present at the meeting, the first between Barak and Netanyahu since he assumed the senior cabinet post.

Following the meeting a statement was released that the two discussed defense issues only, and the gathering was in no way related to current political realities.
