Rabbi Chaim Druckman Shlita met with the dati leumi backed candidate in the Beit Shemesh mayoral race, Eli Cohen. The rav received Cohen warmly, and has come out with a strong endorsement for the candidate they hope will unseat Shas Mayor Rabbi Moshe Abutbul.
Cohen spoke with the rabbi about his activities during his tenure in the Jewish Agency for Israel, how he worked to assist Diaspora Jewry. In his letter of support for Cohen, Rabbi Druckman writes he stands strongly behind his candidacy and he is confident that if Cohen is elected, he will work to improve life for all residents of Beit Shemesh as well as to advance the Torah life in the city.
Cohen announces he has always been a traditional Jew, valuing Jewish tradition in every aspect of his career without any connection to the mayoral race. “Therefore it is a great honor for me to receive Rabbi Druckman’s endorsement” he added.
