A Sharon Region resident in his 60s fills out Mifal HaPayis lottery tickets every week. He has his steady numbers, dates of birth of family members. Last week however he decided for some reason to fill out a second form with the very same numbers. His tickets were selected for they have the same numbers and he splits the grand prize of 28 million NIS with himself for he was the only two winners in the drawing.
Lottery officials immediately determined there were two winners, but they never dreamed the winners were the same person.
The winner, married and the father of four, arrived at lottery headquarters on Sunday, 16 Adar I 5774 to collect his checks, each for half of the total jackpot amount.

Better than getting hit by lightning twice…
I guess one can say that every single time someone wins
Please someone explain me the story.
If he filled it out once or twice he would still have gotten the same amount again – in one check and not devided onto two checks, as long as someone else didnt win. So whats the big deal that he filled out a second form?!
If another person would have also won the same number then he would have been lucky and gotten 2/3 while the other person got 1/3 but here he got 2/2 instead of 1/1 which is the SAME?!
Am I missing something? So, if he only filled out one ticket there would have been only one winner, and it also would have been him, for the same total sum. If there would have been a DIFFERENT PERSON who had also submitted the same numbers, there would in fact have been a real second winner to split the winnings, BUT THERE WASN’T. So…it’s cute, but a non-story.
