Two years after being appointed the director-general of Shas, Nati Lasri announces he is stepping down from his post. Lasri will continue heading the party’s operation in Yerushalayim.
In the letter sent by Lasri to Shas faction members he writes that he is stepping down as a result of a decision made by Deri. He explains that nevertheless he will continue doing his utmost to assist the party in the future. He reminds party colleagues how he was tapped for the post by Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L and how the late posek hador gave him a bracha when he accepted the position.
However when asked by Ladaat if Lasri decided to step down or is he being dismissed, party leader Aryeh Deri stated the decision is a mutual one, praising Lasri’s performance in the senior post.
