Southwest Warmed by Record Heat

hwaWith much of the Northeast gripped by snow and ice storms, the Southwest is riding a heat wave that is setting record high temperatures and sending people to beaches and golf courses in droves.

People in Phoenix and Los Angeles were sunning themselves in 80-degree weather Friday, with forecasters predicting more of the same through the weekend.

Phoenix and Los Angeles are known for the warm weather, but the National Weather Service says the temperatures are uncharacteristically hot for this time of year. The heat is the result of a high-pressure system off the coast of Southern California.

Frigid cold has paralyzed the East Coast and left more than a million homes in the South without power.

  1. Shabbos was beautiful. Sunny, 80+ degrees and dry. No humidity. With all the simchas going on, thousands of families were on the streets of Los Angeles going from one kiddish to another.

Hundreds of visiting East Coasters were amazed at how beautiful a Shabbos can be without boots, gloves and overcoats and/or without shvitzing.

I heard many out of town guests talk about moving here to L.A.

If you’ve never been to Los Angeles for a Shabbos, come visit. You wouldn’t want to go back to NY, unless you’re a Polar Bear.
