Some suspected hackers but officials report a “technical glitch” caused Israel’ nationwide credit card payment system to drop. It began with isolated telephone calls from a number of gas stations seeking to inquire why the credit card purchases are not going through. It did not take too long for the call volume to escalate and for officials of the Retalix Company to realize the problem was far more serious and widespread.
Retalix is used by some of the largest chain stores in the country, including Mega and Rami Levi supermarkets and the Paz gas station chain.
At 12:15, about three hours after the problem was first reported most of the businesses were back up and running.
The failure of the nationwide system was significantly more than a local glitch, but a very costly one. Rami Levi reports his supermarket chain lost 1 million NIS as a result of the outage. Gas stations around the country were unable to accept credit cards, shutting the automated pumps. The gas stations appear to have been hit the hardest.

oyvey! It must me so painful not to be able to buy something with a credit card. The world probably came to a end for many people.
If people would consider to slow down or stop using credit cards all together, we would have alot less issues out there. The Card companies are busy scamming people all day with all thier nonsence free-bees and many people who arent responsable fall for it or play along. There are so many people that just cant get out of it & thats the exact thing they are looking to acomplish. Stop borrowing from banks to buy your necessaties. Try to avoid it for a while and you will see – it’s not that bad.
