As the Shaked Committee seeks to reach agreement on a new chareidi draft law, a center was dedicated in Yerushalayim for Nachal Chareidi vets and any chareidi veteran of the IDF called Project Nachshon. The program seeks to help these young men establish themselves as they seek to build their lives. Taking part in the dedication ceremony was Meir Dagan, a former director of the Mossad Intelligence Agency.
The program is billed as the first of its kind in Israel, hoping to assist males from the chareidi sector between the ages of 20-35. The new program was jointly established by a number of organizations; מרכז צעירים ירושלמי, שח”ר, ובוגרי נצח יהודה. The program will assist the young men integrate into civilian live and earn a livelihood.
A staff of professional counselors and advisors will assist the young men in completing academic requirements to earn certification and professional training towards making a living as well as assisting them in personal development. The center will offer lectures and workshops in a number of areas, including financial planning, what to know before buying an apartment, what one needs to know about joining the workforce, and reaching one’s maximum potential, all in a framework designed to permit the men to continue living a chareidi lifestyle.
