Man Yelling “Where’s Nancy?” Breaks Into Pelosi Home, Beats Her Husband with Hammer

The intruder who attacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband in their San Francisco home was searching for the Democratic leader, shouting “Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?” before assaulting Paul Pelosi with a hammer.

That was a chilling echo of the chants during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the Capitol, when rioters trying to stop Joe Biden’s election searched menacingly through the halls for the speaker.

Paul Pelosi was attacked and severely beaten by an assailant with a hammer who broke into the Pelosi home early Friday, according to people familiar with the investigation. The intruder confronted him shouting for the speaker’s whereabouts, according to another person briefed on the situation.

The 82 year-old suffered blunt force injuries to his head and body, and went into surgery Friday afternoon for a brain injury. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect was identified as David Depape, two of the people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. He was in custody.

While the circumstances of the attack were unclear, the attack raised questions about the safety of members of Congress and their families. Threats to lawmakers are at an all-time high almost two years after the Capitol insurrection. The attack also came just 11 days ahead of midterm elections in which crime and public safety have emerged as top concerns among Americans.

In 2021, Capitol Police investigated around 9,600 threats made against members of Congress, and members have been physically attacked in recent years. Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., was shot in the head at an event outside a Tucson grocery store in 2011, and Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., was severely injured when a gunman opened fire on a Republican congressional baseball team practice in 2017.

Members of Congress have received additional dollars for security at their homes, but some have pushed for yet more protection as people have shown up at their homes and as members have received an increasing number of threatening communications.

Capitol Police, tasked with protecting congressional leaders, said Nancy Pelosi was with her protective detail in Washington at the time her husband was attacked.

Speaker Pelosi, who is second in the line of succession to the president, had just returned this week from a security conference in Europe and is due to keynote an advocacy event Saturday evening in Washington with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Capitol Police said the FBI and San Francisco police were also investigating. The suspect was in the custody of the San Francisco police.

Often at Nancy Pelosi’s side during formal events in Washington, Paul Pelosi is a wealthy investor who largely remains on the West Coast. They have five adult children and many grandchildren. The two have been married 59 years.

Earlier this year, Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence charges related to a May crash in California’s wine country and was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation.

  1. What is his Hebrew name & what is his Mother’s Hebrew name please?
Why hasn’t biden already flown out immediately to California to visit paul pelosi in Hospital? This would just be basic courtesy to say the very least.

  2. Someone should have explained to the poor fool that she’s just an actress. Like, I don’t watch movies, but if I saw one with an evil villain, I wouldn’t consider the actor evil necessarily. It’s just acting. Chill out. No need for a hammer attack.

  3. A couple of comments. First of all, this:

“That was a chilling echo of the chants during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the Capitol, when rioters trying to stop Joe Biden’s election searched menacingly through the halls for the speaker.”

What is this grossly false paragraph doing here? Stick to the story, you leftist freaks!

Secondly, I recall just a few months ago how Pelosi was ok with people posting SCOTUS home addresses online, and cavalierly dismissed having the authorities break up “protests” in front of SCOTUS justices’ homes (which is illegal for many good reasons). It was seemingly ok with her that Justice Cavanaugh’s life was threatened due to her laxity in insuring the proper protections for threatened officers of the Supreme Court. So while this incident is horrifyingly unacceptable, maybe it’s an appropriate wake-up call to government figures to protect each other in spite of politics.

    I’m just sayin’…

  4. Really disgusting remarks in here When the same thing happens to a Jew your reaction is different. You people are no better than the 19 year old who attacks Jews in Brookkyn

  5. The attacker probably couldn’t tell the difference between them, ugly old hag. Poor guy, husband is collateral damage for the witch’s hatred of everyone who doesn’t share her opinions and hatred.

  6. Domenick00, zero, do you hear me? ZERO! Rachmonus on these reshaim arurim, who made a fortune on the stock market from inside information tipsters, who are hell-bent to destroy this great country, as far as I’m concerned, all democrats and whoever votes for them can rot in hell. Your rachmanus is totally misplaced and chazal tell us you will be cruel on rachmanim if you feel rachmonus for achzarim.

  7. Nancy ordered her own hit. Sorry folks could care less. Roosevelt sent Christmas presents to German children as Jews were being slaughtered. You have the wrong Jew asking for sympathy

  8. Oh, please. This is just an attempt to link Republicans to violence, by the very same people who ignored or encouraged years of political violence against Republicans. Pelosi’s daughter openly cheered the attack on Rand Paul. Not one Democrat apologized or took responsibility after the attack by a Democrat Party operative on the Republican softball team that almost killed Steve Scalise. They ignored the assassination attempt on Brett Kavanaugh. Likewise the leftist mobs beating up people attending Trump rallies in 2016. This guy who attacked Pelosi seems to be a typical Democrat supporter, at least at first glance, and there’s certainly no indication he was inspired by anything any Republican has said. And the gunman who shot Gifford was a lunatic who, to the extent he had any political views at all, was a Democrat. The shooting had no connection to politics at all.
