In case it wasn’t clear until now, former President Donald Trump said he would never run for office again with Mike Pence, saying that the former vice president committed “political suicide” by refusing his order to overturn their joint election defeat.
Journalists Peter Baker and Susan Glasser interviewed Trump for their upcoming book The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021, during which Trump said he’s ruled out Pence as a running mate in his expected 2024 presidential run.
“It would be totally inappropriate,” Trump said, adding that “Mike committed political suicide” by not rejecting the electoral college votes certified by Congress on January 6th that established Joe Biden as the winner of the election.
Pence is coming out with his own book, So Help Me God, in mid-November. In it, he writes that he was furious over Trump supporters’ storming of the U.S. Capitol building.
“I was angry at what I saw, how it desecrated the seat of our democracy and dishonored the patriotism of millions of our supporters, who would never do such a thing here or anywhere else,” Pence writes.

In ehrlichkeit, mentclichkeit and morality, Trump doesn’t come anywhere near Pence. Unfortunately, that is why Pence stands no chance of becoming president. Having him is president would recalibrate the entire American moral compass which is more out of whack than ever.
Trump’s supporters wanted to hang Pence, so why would anyone think they could ever be on the same icket.

Pence is as evil as they come and get……to be a political front runner many things go down and non of them KOSHER……..Pence has two faces….Trump wears all of his Pence doesn’t….he is not different than a non trusting Gentile or Muslim…..
Trump will be the Candidtae and I will joyfully vote for him, but Pence is a tzaddik umos haolam and I wish he would be the president.
I would vote for Pence too as he is honorable person.
The most likely winning ticket for the Republicans in 2024 would have Pence for President (perhaps a one term pledge) and a well known, Trump-blessed, MAGA candidate for Vice-President. A Trump-Cheney ticket would also be very strong, but that is less likely.
Trump can focus on his belief that he won in 2020, but that means the Democrats only have to point to the disparity between Trump’s total and the Republicans over all to argue that Trump lost because many in his party refused to vote for him – and by Trump ignoring the economy and national security and culture war issues in effect deprives the Republicans of the issues on which they are most likely to gain support.
Well, that’s unfortunate, but it is what it is. Trump was a good president, and likely would be a good president again, but he has many character flaws. I had hoped he would have the menchlichkeit to invite Pence to run with him again, but that is not one of his strengths.
John Eastman is an excellent lawyer, and the advice he gave Trump was not obviously wrong. But Trump doesn’t seem to understand that Pence had a duty to consult his own lawyer, John Danforth, who is also an excellent lawyer, and who came to a different conclusion than Eastman did. His opinion is also not obviously wrong. And having received his advice Pence did the right thing in accepting it. It’s a genuine machlokes, and everyone has to follow his own rov and accept that others should follow theirs.
Pence would be an excellent president, but unfortunately he doesn’t have Trump’s charisma. If they end up running against each other in a primary, I think I would vote for Pence; but I don’t think he would win.
Akuperma, a Trump/Cheney ticket is completely out of consideration. No Republican will ever give Cheney the time of day again. She has betrayed the whole party, and may as well become a Democrat. I would not vote for any ticket that had her on it.
