Ambassador Gillerman Warns Against Iran Going Nuclear

gillerman1.jpgOutgoing Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Gillerman is warning Israel “to do everything possible, literally everything, to prevent Iran from going nuclear”. He explains that in addition to the Iranian threat, we must be extremely concerned over Tehran giving weapons of mass destruction (WMD) to terror organizations like Hizbullah and Hamas.

In an interview with the New York Times Sunday Magazine, Gillerman warns that the likelihood of Iran passing WMD to Hamas is more real that Tehran firing a missile.

Gillerman in his NY Times and Newsweek statements calls on the international community to act before it is too late, stating the Iranian threat is one against the global community, not just Israel.

Gillerman does not rule out the effectiveness of sanctions, stating the UN Security Council resolutions passed to date did indeed have an impact on Iran, adding the diplomatic arena may still offer a solution.

Concurring with Israel intelligence reports, Gillerman stated Hizbullah is as strong as or even more powerful than it was prior to the Second Lebanon War. He points out that UN Resolution 1701, demanding that Hizbullah disarm, has not been implemented. The northern border situation is “an explosive situation” he warns.
