MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Yaakov Litzman was invited to meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu but he declined. When asked in a recent radio interview about possibly joining the coalition headed by Netanyahu, Litzman stated “If he reverses everything he had done, and I mean everything, without exception, then and only then I would take it to the Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael to contemplate such a move, not a moment before.”
Litzman has not made an effort to hide his disdain for the current administration, accusing Mr. Netanyahu and his cabinet of targeting the chareidi way of life.
Kikar Shabbos adds that sources in Yahadut Hatorah report that if the request was directed at the Degel Hatorah faction of the chareidi party one of the MKs would have accepted a meeting with the prime minister. In a recent radio interview with MK Moshe Gafne, the Degel faction MK was harsh regarding his opinion of the prime minister and coalition, calling the hate of the chareidim by this administration “unprecedented”. He added that he does not expect the current coalition to last for too long.
