In a plea bargain agreement between the prosecutor and defense attorneys regarding the would-be Neturei Karta spy, Yitzchak Bergel, who was convicted in 2011 for offering his espionage services to the Iranian Embassy in Iran, will serve 4.5 years in prison.
It was argued the defendant is not mentally sound, but the prosecution was determined to prosecute due to the severity of the charges. However, a plea bargain agreement was finally reached, which the Jerusalem District Court accepted and approved.
