In an apparent turnaround in policy, America is sending Undersecretary of State William Burns to Geneva over the weekend, where he will meet with Iranian officials to discuss Iran’s continued defiance of the international community. To date, America has indicated an unwillingness to enter into talks with Iran prior to Tehran complying with the dictates of the international community. European Union Foreign Minister Javier Solana will also take part in the meeting.
American officials are calling the meeting a “one time event” adding that Burns is not authorized to enter into negotiations, but he may hold a number of meetings.
Solana is expected to call upon Iran to freeze the ongoing uranium enrichment process in exchange for the permanent members of the UN Security Council not moving ahead towards stepping up sanctions against Iran. Solana hopes the move will lead to a channel of dialogue.
Israeli officials on the other hand are expressing concern over the planned meeting including a senior State Department official, sending a message to the Americans that Iran must first agree to halt the uranium process before sitting down to talk.

Talk is nice but I hope that he reads the Iranians the riot act as to what may happen if they continue with their insanity.
I’m starting to hate BUSH, because he caves in everytime, and to make things worse, he does it late in the process, which means the bad guys catch his bluff.

Another great move by the Bush administration. McCain’s whole thing on Iran is that he will not talk to Ahmadinejad (ys), and that Obama, by wanting to talk to him, is talking to terrorists, (even though we already talk to terrorists like Abass (ys)). Is this not inching toward talking to Ahmadinejad (ys)? How much further can Bush sink the republican party? Maybe as much as McCain? In other words, a key GOP strategy for the upcoming election has had the wind taken out of it’s sail by Bush. Bush made things ripe for America, who put him in office two times, to more than welcome a Barak Obama. Again, Bush is the singularly worse president we have ever had; threatening the American dream with his own two hands.
well u know what..if bush would be running in this compaign together w/ obama and mccain—he would probably win the election!!
