CATSKILLS: Two Overturned Vehicles In Just A Few Minutes [PHOTOS]

Emergency personnel including Catskills Hatzolah responded to two different accidents involving overturned vehicles – just minutes apart from each other.

Thankfully, neither incident had victims with any life-threatening injuries.

A photo of one of the accidents appears to show a car with bald tires. People should use this as a learning experience, and have their tires checked.

  1. I haven’t seen tires that worn in years. Those who lease usually turn in the leased car before the tires need replacing. Tires like those pictured have absolutely no traction on a wet road.

  2. It can sneak up on you. Tires with run flat feature can become bald at 30K. BH I recently was able to change tires after my preferred tire by Michelin was out of stock for 6 months.

  3. Check your tires every few months. And if you want to save A LOT of money, buy them on ebay.
I have done this several times. When you get them, any tire shop will balance/install for about 25/30 per tire.

  4. TheRock, I 2nd the recommendation of buying tires on Ebay. Several times when I’ve needed to replace a single tire I have found matching tires with plenty of tread left for less than a third the price of a new tire. There are also sets of takeoffs available at considerable savings. Free shipping with a UPS sticker on the tire is how they arrive.

  5. Ever look at track cars?
Worn tires give better traction on dry smooth pavement. More rubber on the road.
In the wet they’re given to hydroplaning, and in gravel, snow or mud they don’t bite.

  6. But another issue is age, like in years. Depending on the environment you could have 10 year old tires with still good tread but they lose their pliability and don’t perform right.
