Hi,
I’m coming to Lakewood in the summer and I’m looking for a place to stay for a couple and a baby for 2 night’s. Ideally under $200.
Any Leads?
Please advise
July 25, 2022 2:32 pm at 2:32 pm #2108739commonsaychelParticipantTip Tam Camping Resort, on the border of Jackson and Lakewood, shuls and groceries are 2 minutes away and fees are less the $50
July 25, 2022 4:25 pm at 4:25 pm #2108755yungermanSParticipantThere is no Lakewood anymore.
Rav Aharon Kotler ZTL took it with him to the olam haemes.
It was now replaced with Brooklyn NJ with lots of basements to rent but the Kedusha of the Torah community devoted to Torah was removed R”LJuly 25, 2022 5:11 pm at 5:11 pm #2108777ujmParticipantYungerman: What you wrote is pure loshon hora.
July 25, 2022 5:35 pm at 5:35 pm #2108806Menachem ShmeiParticipantYungermanS, OP seems to be looking for a place to stay in the city of Lakewood. Brooklyn is in NY, quite a distance from the city of Lakewood. OP did not write “עיר הקודש”.
If you want to discuss the holiness of Lakewood, I would suggest that you go back to this thread:

July 25, 2022 7:21 pm at 7:21 pm #2108846The Real TruthParticipant2 nights that is a long time any how open the phone book there are plenty of hachnosas orchim houses in lakwut they would love to help you enjoy your stay and dont for get the gas to get there
July 25, 2022 8:32 pm at 8:32 pm #2108885ymribiatParticipantujm: Were you well like by your peers as a child?
yungerman: A charismatic leadership structure doesn’t survive the death of the person at the top. Coincidentally it is also commonly found in cults.
July 25, 2022 8:51 pm at 8:51 pm #2108891ujmParticipantymr: They looked up to me and tried to emulate me.
July 25, 2022 10:00 pm at 10:00 pm #2108894GadolhadorahParticipantAirBnb lists over 50 homes for rent on the first two shabbos weekends in August and even more for weekday stays.
July 25, 2022 10:56 pm at 10:56 pm #2108918commonsaychelParticipant@GH he wants under $200 total, the airbnbs are more then that, take my suggestion
July 25, 2022 11:32 pm at 11:32 pm #2108931GadolhadorahParticipantCommon Saychel: The Ramada and several other hotels are available in the $200/night range.
July 26, 2022 9:11 am at 9:11 am #2108970commonsaychelParticipantI think the OP wanted 100 per night, 200 total
July 26, 2022 9:13 am at 9:13 am #2108994Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipantDo you know the history of Lakewood hotel? Who built it and why?
July 26, 2022 11:32 am at 11:32 am #2109029ujmParticipantAAQ, please share with us that information.
July 26, 2022 11:34 am at 11:34 am #2109053☕️coffee addictParticipant“ymr: They looked up to me and tried to emulate me.“
This is the funniest line I’ve seen today
Another interesting observation is that commonsaychel didn’t call the person a troll and is actually trying to help a newcomer
If it wasn’t for the aforementioned comment I would’ve thought I’m in a parallel universe
July 26, 2022 11:35 am at 11:35 am #2109074Amil ZolaParticipantYup. The New Irvington Hotel was the winter residence of Tammany Hall back in the day.
July 26, 2022 1:21 pm at 1:21 pm #2109111ujmParticipantAmil, do you have some connection to New York City?
July 26, 2022 2:40 pm at 2:40 pm #2109139Amil ZolaParticipantSure, I grew up in NJ not far from Lkwd.
July 26, 2022 3:50 pm at 3:50 pm #2109150GadolhadorahParticipant“I think the OP wanted $100 per night, $200 total”
Good luck. If you are lucky, for $100/night you are likely to get free bedbugs….Perhaps contact one of the local shuls/yeshivos and inquire about locals who rent out rooms or apartments in their homes. I don’t think any commercial hotel/motel will offer a clean/safe room at that price point.
July 26, 2022 3:50 pm at 3:50 pm #2109151jackkParticipantCS,
I thought you were answering humorously, but you seem to seriously suggest this place Tip Tam Camping Resort.
Have you ever stayed there?
For 50$ you can camp out in a tent.
Even for more, the cabins appear to be bare bones.
Does it have any conveniences for frum people ?July 26, 2022 4:06 pm at 4:06 pm #2109166ujmParticipantWho needs conveniences??
July 26, 2022 4:08 pm at 4:08 pm #2109167commonsaychelParticipant@jackk, No I never stayed there, I have a Brother in Jackson and a few nephews in Lkwd, was I half joking? yes, but that is the only thing your going to get in Lkwd for $50
July 26, 2022 5:48 pm at 5:48 pm #2109200GadolhadorahParticipantCommon Saychel….you don’t get the free bedbugs at a campground…you may also encounter some difficulty in finding someone to light the campfire to warm up the blecch shabbos morning. Finally, check to be sure its located within the eruv.
July 26, 2022 5:54 pm at 5:54 pm #2109208commonsaychelParticipant@GH use a dutch oven like I did when I camped
July 26, 2022 6:10 pm at 6:10 pm #2109232GadolhadorahParticipantCS: Great idea….I’m sure the OP can put the Dutch Oven in the baby’s carry on bag w/o raising any questions with the TSA security screeners.
July 26, 2022 7:08 pm at 7:08 pm #2109239Amil ZolaParticipantI’d say buy the DO stateside. I’ve had shabbos in the woods many a time while the fire pit held numerous dutch ovens. I neither eat nor cook cholent but I make an amazing white bean stew with lamb in a DO in the coals.
July 26, 2022 8:27 pm at 8:27 pm #2109243commonsaychelParticipant@amil, “but I make an amazing white bean stew with lamb in a DO in the coals.”
That is the PNW version of cholentJuly 26, 2022 9:59 pm at 9:59 pm #2109259crazy horseParticipantWho thinks common saychel and godalhadorah should get married and argue at home instead of online?
July 26, 2022 10:00 pm at 10:00 pm #2109262Amil ZolaParticipantCS I will agree with you there. It’s not a traditional cholent that’s for sure!
July 26, 2022 11:26 pm at 11:26 pm #2109271ymribiatParticipant@ Crazy Horsey
But the children…
No.
Just no.
July 27, 2022 1:04 am at 1:04 am #2109276ujmParticipantCH: We don’t accept toeiva “marriage”.
