MK (Yahadut Hatorah) met with Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef to discuss the chutzpah and audacity of cabinet ministers and MKs in Israel.

Rav Eichler addressed recent unacceptable statements from cabinet ministers, expressing his shock over what some cabinet ministers and MKs have to say about the nation’s chief rabbis.

Regarding the recent declaration by the chief rabbis supporting the long-standing psak Halacha prohibiting women from serving in the IDF, Eichler expressed his support. He reminded the rav of the psak from the Chazon Ish ZT”L who banned females from serving to the degree of יהרג ובל יעבור.

This apparently has some elected officials upset, including dati leumi MKs who may be driven more by a sense of national commitment and pride than by compliance with Halacha.
