All main stream media is democratic.
Why can’t N.Y. state be republican after so much crime, don’t people see what is really going on in N.Y. state so radical with such an agenda.
why don’t people stand up for their rights and speak up ?????????????July 14, 2022 12:31 pm at 12:31 pm #2106134Reb EliezerParticipantThe Republicans don’t care about working people. If it would be up to them, there would be no Social
Security, Medicare and Medicaid. There attitude is sink or swim. The economy is driven by demand and not by supply. Reagan eliminated the CETA, job training program which was one of the best investments which was payed back from the tax payers of those jobs.July 14, 2022 12:48 pm at 12:48 pm #2106169erParticipantThere’s been lots of stats lately showing that for all the talk and reporting of NYC crime, Republican-controlled states have a way higher violent crime rate per capita. Of course NYC will have more incidents of crime than a place like Fort Worth since there are way more people. But on a per capita basis, NY is as safe or safer than republican states, especially regarding violent crime and homicide. It’s just that republican media and politicians are good at this narrative. See for your self and let us know what you find.
And as Reb Eliezer alludes to, there are a lot of programs and policies supported by democrats that pro-republican folks take for granted. In addition, democrats pushed or support the 5-day work week, protection from discrimination in the workplace, and equal pay for women, to name a few. Maybe we think some of these go to far, but should a YWN reader be happy that his hard-working wife would make less than a man? Should it be OK to fire someone for wearing a yarmulke? This is a sampling of issues republicans try to role back.
July 14, 2022 9:57 pm at 9:57 pm #2106249Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipanter, you afre right about state statistics. Still, if you look at the cities, most high crime cities are Democratic, 9 out of 10 top ones, according to numbers I saw – and so do largest cities where there is most if the overall crime. Correlation is not causation, of course, it well might be that it is a general condition of large cities to both have high crime and liberal policies. Maybe worth looking at cities that had more and less liberal mayors and seeing what the effect was. First thing that comes to mind is NYC where crime declined under less liberal mayors.

July 15, 2022 9:41 am at 9:41 am #2106315GadolhadorahParticipantFox News, Wall Steet Journal, NY Post etc. haven’t been big AOC supporters or applauding Nancy Pelosi’s agenda. There are other right-wing media based in New York although obviously larger Democratic/Left presence. Upstate, its exactly the opposite.
July 15, 2022 12:21 pm at 12:21 pm #2106353erParticipantAlways Ask: Agreed. I spent a few minutes searching for basic city comparisons (blue vs red governors) but didn’t fund anything helpful. Would also be interesting to compare rates of red states against red cities in that state and red states against blue cities in that state.

I thought this thread was going to be about a softball game.

Libs have been throwing around these claims for decades. When I was unfortunately receiving public assistance, beginning under Clinton and through the Bush years I was always told that Republicans would cut my assistance. It kept going up until Obama. You people are slaves to the Democrats just like the People of Color are. Wake up!
What is more likely is that under Democrat rule they’ll pass a law giving employers a right to compel an employee to terminate a pregnancy. Chew on that.

1. It was Republicans who fought against discrimination.
2. Ideally, women shouldn’t have to work and freely be able to choose to be housewives. It is Democrats who forced two incomes as a necessity for so many families by pushing women out of the home and into the workforce. The biggest losers are the children. A woman’s place is in the home.
July 17, 2022 9:10 pm at 9:10 pm #2106643Reb EliezerParticipantThe Republicans caused that we need two salaries to make a living, so the woman’s place cannot be at home anymore.
July 17, 2022 10:16 pm at 10:16 pm #2106667Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipant> Republicans caused that we need two salaries to make a living
How did they do that? By fighting slavery so that the ladies have no help any more? If you reduce taxes from man’s salary, then the woman might be able to stay at home
July 17, 2022 10:19 pm at 10:19 pm #2106665ujmParticipantIt was the feminists, who are clearly Democrats, that pushed women out of the home and into the workforce.

The reason why people vote Democrat so much is for all the freebies.Reb E, it seems to me that you are out of touch with the modern Democrat party. Spend some time on a college campus and see the radicalism being pushed.
July 28, 2022 5:20 pm at 5:20 pm #2110045Reb EliezerParticipantAny radicalism is no good on either side.
July 28, 2022 6:02 pm at 6:02 pm #2110051erParticipantJust catching up on thread. A few thoughts:
Always Ask and Modern’s combined homicide stats suggests we’ll always see higher crime rates in cities no matter who is in charge. And that it’s a false republican politician/media narrative that crime is more prevalent in blue cities. Thanks modern, I’d like to know where you got those.ujm – I’d like to know how republicans fought against discrimination. Unless you’re talking about slavery 160 years ago? Seriously.
Hi Reb Eliezer -“The Republicans caused that we need two salaries to make a living, so the woman’s place cannot be at home anymore.” how did they do this? I assume it’s more democrats who created a culture of women wanting working full time. And figured the resulting higher family incomes allowed companies to take advantage by charging more and making more dumb “necessities” to waste everyone’s disposable income on.
July 28, 2022 6:41 pm at 6:41 pm #2110072Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipantRebE > Any radicalism is no good on either side.
FYI, right now DCCCC is spending $$$ to support extreme Republicans in primaries. Even D- congress-“people” are not happy with that. This really makes claims that R- extremists are a threat to the country (unless there is a partisan advantage to milk). See Weimar Republic as a reference: those against Communists voted Nazi; those against Nazis votes Commie. Th rest is history.
As please write to your D- rep to protest this.
July 28, 2022 6:48 pm at 6:48 pm #2110076MDGParticipant“Any radicalism is no good on either side.”
True ,but the radicalism of the left is accepted in the mainstream left and pulling it lefter and lefter. For example, ilhan Omar made antisemitic comments and pelisi still appointed her to a couple foreign relations committees.
Otoh, people like David duke have been rejected by the right for their hate speech.
July 28, 2022 7:54 pm at 7:54 pm #2110084Menachem ShmeiParticipantMDG, David Duke is an extreme example of extreme.
How about Marjorie Taylor Greene?July 28, 2022 9:00 pm at 9:00 pm #2110093Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipanter > we’ll always see higher crime rates in cities no matter who is in charge
er, NYC and some other cities had a mixture of D- or R- (or moderate D-) mayors. You may want to compare performance in those cities (comparing with others) under D- and R-. Those who live in NYC – were you safer under Dinkins and de Blasio or Koch, Guiliani, Bloomberg?
July 29, 2022 1:27 am at 1:27 am #2110143Reb EliezerParticipantSenator Elizabeth Warren wrote a book entitled The Double Income Trap. When two people are working they have nothing to fall back in case of financial emergency. The husband needs to gain better skills to make more money. Education needs to be cheaper. Housing is to expensive.
July 29, 2022 9:37 am at 9:37 am #2110156MDGParticipantMarjorie Taylor Greene has said some dumb and offensive stuff, but has apologized. Why? Because her party doesn’t agree. Maybe she has done teshuva.
Ilhan Omar has said some antisemitic stuff but gets rewarded by her party. No change of mind. In fact, The Democrat party has emboldened her.
July 29, 2022 9:37 am at 9:37 am #2110157MDGParticipant“When two people are working they have nothing to fall back in case of financial emergency.”
I think you mean when two people are needed work to make ends meet…“The husband needs to gain better skills to make more money. ”
That’s so patriarchal cisgender heteronormative. Get with the program or get cancelled.“Education needs to be cheaper.”
The reason it’s so expensive is because the government gives out so much money for student loans, that the universities can jack up the price and still get the tuition.“Housing is to expensive.”
That’s just supply and demand. If Sen Warren doesn’t understand that, she should not be making any economic policies.July 29, 2022 11:17 am at 11:17 am #2110253erParticipant“True ,but the radicalism of the left is accepted in the mainstream left and pulling it lefter and lefter.”
It goes both ways, I agree for example extreme “social” issues are pretty mainstream in the D party, which is outrageous. But radical ideas rooted in white supremacy and perhaps anarchy have also seeped in to mainstream R party, which is frightening.
Thoughts on the new Forward party? Supposedly a mix of moderate R and Ds. My guess is 1/3 of Ds don’t buy in to the radicalism. And a smaller % of Rs don’t buy into the radicalism of the right. But remember that each election is decided by independents, who nationally lean a but to the right. These are people I would think would be open to a new party.
