MK (Likud/Beitenu) Yariv Levin is proposing a bill that would prevent paying released terrorists state assistance funds.
Levin addresses terrorists released by the state such as the Shalit deal and the terrorists being released as a result of the agreement reached between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority) during ongoing negotiations. Levin feels that if a terrorist is released before completing his term, he should not be eligible for any aid until the time period of the sentence is over. That means a terrorist released with 10 years remaining of a sentence cannot receive any Bituach Leumi funds for a decade. A terrorist serving a life sentence who is released will never be eligible for funding.
Levin refers to aid from Bituach Leumi intended to assist the released prison to acclimate. There are other benefits received as well. The MK points out that the Israeli citizens released in the last wave of terrorist releases by Israel are now eligible for assistance from Bituach Leumi and his bill aims to bring an end to the absurd situation.
