Israel Land Authority officials are warning residents of Yahud not to purchase a burial plot if offered a deal adjacent to the current beis hachaim. Officials explain the area is not zoned for kvura and even if they pay for a burial plot it will not be of any value. Officials say the government agency will use all the legal means at its disposal to address any and all illegal burial.
State land officials have learned there are elements operating in that area selling burial plots to residents of Yahud and Ohr Yehuda. They point out the plots are outside the boundaries of the cemetery and kvura will not be permitted under any circumstance. There are signs in the area in question stating the plot is state-owned land zoned for agriculture but there are people trying to make some money off unsuspecting residents. In short, this is a Brooklyn Bridge deal seeking to take the money of the unsuspecting.
Actually, this is the same plot of land that was taken illegally by the Yahud Local Religious Council, which planned to divide it into 100 burial plots. The Land Administration prevented that from occurring.
