An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richer scale was felt in northern Israel on Monday 12 Shevat in the area of the Kinneret, during the afternoon hours. According to officials in the Seismological Institute, the epicenter of the quake was in the area of Moshav Almagor, north of the Kinneret. B’chasdei Hashem there were no injuries or damage reported.
The earthquake was 12 kilometers (7.2 miles) below ground and there were reports of feeling the quake in Tiveria, 17km (10.6 miles) away, as well as in Tzfas, which is 11km (6 miles) away.
Experts studying earthquakes report that a major quake is expected to hit the region in the near future and the nation is unfortunately ill-prepared for such an eventuality.
