Former President Trump’s top Secret Service protector said he’s willing to testify that a story told Tuesday to the Jan. 6 committee never happened.
Cassidy Hutchinson, a 25-year-old former assistant to then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, told the committee during public testimony that she heard a wild story about something that occurred on Jan. 6. Hutchinson said she heard secondhand that Trump wanted to go to the Capitol following his rally. When Secret Service agents refused, Trump attacked them and lunged at the steering wheel of the SUV he was in, trying to get the agents to bring him to the Capitol building.
Trump denied that ever happened.
“Her fake story that I tried to grab the steering wheel of the White House limousine in order to steer it to the Capitol is “sick” and fraudulent, very much like the Unselect Committee itself – Wouldn’t have even been possible to do such a ridiculous thing,” Trump wrote on TRUTH Social.
Now, Bobby Engel, Trump’s aforementioned top Secret Service protector, is reportedly prepared to testify to the Jan. 6 committee that no such thing ever occurred. Additionally, a source close to Tony Ornato, who supposedly told Hutchinson the story in front of Engel, said he never even heard such a story until Hutchinson’s testimony.
In a statement, the Secret Service said: “The United States Secret Service has been cooperating with the Select Committee since its inception in spring 2021, and will continue to do so, including by responding on the record to the Committee regarding the new allegations surfaced in today’s testimony.”

Shame on TYW for posting the original story without verifying. Copying and pasting from fake news CNN is not journalism. And why don’t you know by now that 99.99% of all anti trump “news” stories end up being fake and/or the complete opposite. Almost everything the media and liberals accuse him if they are guilty of it themselves. It’s real simple. We’ve seen 6 years of this.
If this is true then they’re such fools, they had a great show going against Trump and they ruin it by making up a far-fetched story.
How about you hear their testimony before you print a headline like “fake news” (in all caps because that’s what a 6 year old does)? The statement from the Secret Service says that they are cooperating. The tweets say that these witnesses will testify. Good! But no where does any of this say, from the witnesses themselves (under oath like Hutchinson) that the story is wrong. There is similar hearsay in the tweets.
Second, whether Trump grabbed the steering wheel or threw his lunch against the wall is not relevant to crimes. Trump knew that there were armed (with handguns and rifles) people trying to get into his speech at the Ellipse. Trump told the Secret Service to get rid of the magnetometers to let the armed people in. Trump knew these armed people were going to go to the Capitol for the express purpose of stopping the peaceful transfer of power (and probably murder some political enemies).
If Trump thinks this is a lie, he should come before the committee, under oath like everyone else, and explain himself. He should get equal time, at least 8 hours (Hillary had 11 hours before the Benghazi committee).
Was there not one lawyer there to righteously object to this spurious hearsay and shoot it down!?

The witnesses must be penalized and made into an example!

Of course it didn’t, this whole show put on by that pig Cheney, Krybaby Kizinger & her dem cohorts is just more of the same. That Hoe on the stand was mad cuz Trump didn’t let her work at Mar a Lago. They didn’t put the guy on the stand cuz bald lying men don’t put a good appearance on stage.
Most of her accusations HAVE been verified in sworn testimony by others. I personally don’t believe this bubba meisa she is repeating as second hand information but the two secret service agents are the same two who took Trump on his “joyride” at Walter Reed hospital when he had Covid and one of the two was also the agent who wanted Pence to leave the capital during the January 6 riot (which he refused). Both are known as big MAGA guys and strong supporters of Trump while on his protective detail. That being said, the story makes zero sense and the Committee should have vetted her recounting of the tale before allowing her to testify.

Kevin McCarthy refused to allow his people to serve in the Committee.

The Committee would love to have Trump testify. But Trump knows that if he does he will be going to prison for perjury as he is incapable of telling the truth. Note that Michael Flynn repeatedly took the 5th Amendment when he came before the Committee.
We already knew that Trump wanted the mob to lynch Vice President Pence. We now know how close they came to actually being able to do that. And we just learned that Trump himself demanded to go lead the lynch mob.
To those saying “this is hearsay!” “Why did no lawyer object!” “This is a kangaroo trial!” Well… it’s not a trial. It’s a congressional hearing. In a deposition, you can offer as much hearsay as you like. Hearsay is only inadmissible at trial (with 18 exceptions). Hutchinson was clear that it was hearsay… “[this person] said this to me…” Trump and Meadows and Ornato and Engel can come and testify just like Hutchinson. It looks like Ornato and Engel will testify. Great! Then they can have their say and refute anything said by other witnesses. I think Trump testifying before the committee would be the most watched event in TV history.
Also remember that originally the committee was supposed to be 50/50 Democrats and Republicans. McCarthy backed out at the last minute. And this is the result. Trump himself said that McCarthy was stupid to back out of participating.
So far, Ms Hutchinson is the only one to testify under oath, again she was clear that this was something told to her. Let’s have Mr Engel come and testify as he offered.

It’s interesting to see how the leftwing media with all their screaming about Trump supporters believing whatever are so carefully prepping their followers to believe hearsay claims over the sworn testimony of those who were there. It’s one thing if it were Trump vs. Cassidy. That would be he said /she said. Now it is Trump vs. Cassidy . Cassidy wasn’t there. The two witnesses who were insist it never happened. But still the left is trying to get their supporters to believe Cassidy. And then they fault Trump supporters for believing everything.
On another note while the January 6 committee has complete rejected the possibility of cross examination until now all of the sudden now they are demanding one
