Brooklyn, NY – Democratic Councilman Simcha Felder, candidate for New York State Senate in the 21st District, announced that he has filed more than 5,100 petition signatures to the Board of Elections, more than five times the 1,000 required to get on the ballot for the Democratic Primary. Felder’s signatures, collected by volunteers in a true grassroots movement, come from throughout the district, from Ditmas Park, Flatbush, and East Flatbush to Boro Park and Kensington.

“I am honored that people throughout the 21st District believe that change is needed in Albany, and support my candidacy for the New York State Senate. I have proven the ability to deliver resources and services to my Council District and I look forward to delivering for the 21st Senate District,” said Felder. “I look forward to a new day when the Democrats control the State Senate and this district has a Senator that they are proud to have serve them in Albany.”

In the spirit of a healthy democracy, Councilman Felder pledges not to challenge the petitions of any of his opponents, and calls on his opponents to make the same pledge.

“I look forward to a sincere and open debate on the issues facing this senate district. Voters should have the opportunity to hear from all candidates interested in running for this seat. We should focus on proving who can best serve the people of this district instead of focusing on petty and time-consuming legal challenges,” Felder said.
