Following the mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas, law enforcement officials aren’t taking threats about further rampages lightly – even if the threat comes from a little kid.
A 10-year-old fifth grader in Florida was arrested by police after sending text messages threatening to commit a mass shooting. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it was made aware of the texts on Saturday, quickly investigated them, and then arrested the boy.
Because of his age, the Youth Services Criminal Investigations Division took on the case.
“This student’s behavior is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” said Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “Making sure our children are safe is paramount. We will have law and order in our schools! My team didn’t hesitate one second… not one second, to investigate this threat.”
The sheriff added that “right now is not the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not funny. This child made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”

What do you mean its insanity? This is justifiable, even great. This is not a joking matter, if you want to joke about this, enjoy the consequences. I say lock this kid up and throw the key away!!!!
TYW has lost its way, forget its sanity and morals.
and now he’s experiencing real consequences Meaning he needs to be placed in a birch and be publicly flogged and then receive death penalty
Why is this insanity? That kid is an idiot and I’m not at all surprised at the reaction of the police. Yes, a 10 year old could do damage just as much as a 17 year old could. The police acted properly.
This is not INSANITY as YWN called it it is called doing due diligence who knows what the kid is capable of and what he can get his hands on at home. And, if it turns out to be nothing then its a great lesson to other kids.
While I fully agree that this is sickening and I’m not disqualifying or disquantifying any part, I am just thinking that this is simply the outcome of all the electronic games the children play and the movies they view. Killing means nothing to a child! They pretend to kill all the time! Pow, Pow! Given today’s judicial system, I’m not sure this case will stand up in court past the first phase!
Who is insane? His parents.
But as with the horrific shooting last week, we are not allowed to hold parents responsible. Nowadays no one is responsible for anything, and the shooter? Oh he’s got some mental issue…
Where is the insanity, other than, possibly, in the 10-year old’s head? What weapons, if any, do his parents own? And are those weapons locked up?
A juvenile court is less likely to accept a formal sanity plea, and more likely to remand to parental custody and direct that he be denied access to firearms (and social media). Seems those police are more competent.
He was a good kid. He just, you know, he just fell in with the wrong crowd of feds on the Internet, and before you know it, they were encouraging him to write the kind of stuff that justifies suspension of the Second Amendment or whatever. And, he did a good job too. In the end, he’s actually just helping to keep us safe.
Just what is the word “insanity” in the headline suppose to mean?
Nice. His face is all over the news. Now he’s famous, his friends think he’s awesome. Mission accomplished.
This is why we must implement CRT in all schools.
He’s a big fat nasty תחת
