A man in his 60s was struck by a vehicle and killed on Netiv Megadim in Maale Adumim. He was crossing in an authorized crosswalk. The driver is being held by police.

Jerusalem Mayor Barkat told his city council the cost of the major blizzard was 290 million NIS.

Two people are in critical condition after being pulled out of a burning building in the N’vei Sha’anan neighborhood of southern Tel Aviv.

MDA reports treating 124 patients nationwide during the night including 22 accident victims, 23 people injured in altercations and 49 due to ingesting too much alcohol. 15 women were taken to hospitals in labor. MDA in Shoham brought the country’s first baby of 2014 into the world, a boy.

A SIDS death was reported on Palmach Street in the Pardes Katz area of Bnei Brak. A 3-month-old child R”L was found dead in her crib.

An Arab carjacker targeted a Jewish driver in the Binyamin Regional Council in Shomron on erev Rosh Chodesh Shevat 5774 while driving from Corsha to Naale. B’chasdei Hashem, at the last moment the driver managed to get away from the assailants who were blocking the road.

A fire is reported in Haifa’s Technion University. There are no reports of injuries.

14:14:

PA (Palestinian Authority) representative to Washington Maan Erekat reports the US will be giving the PA $440 million in aid in 2014. This represents a $14 million increase from 2013.
