2:15PM EST: Three buildings have just been evacuated in the village of Kiryas Joel following a gas main break in front of 3 Yoel Klein Boulevard, YWN has learned.

The leak apparently started after a construction crew working in the street accidentally hit a gas main. Kiryas Joel FD along with Kiryas Joel Hatzolah are on the scene, and have just evacuated 22 families from a total of three buildings.

Kiryas Joel Public Safety Director Moses Witriol tells YWN that the gas company has been requested to respond forthwith, and all appropriate safety precautions have been taken.
