Chief of Staff Gantz: At the End, the IDF Will Have to Act

gantzCommenting on the latest katyusha rocket attack from southern Lebanon into northern Israel earlier in the week, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Benny Gantz said “it just so happened that this time, by chance, the rocket landed in an open area.” Gantz warns that ultimately it is clear the IDF will have to respond and the operation will not be a simple one.

He explained “from time to time we are reminded of our surroundings and the need for the IDF to remain ready to respond at a moment’s notice…the security challenges haven’t vanished.” The military commander made his remarks during a ceremony on Monday 27 Teves 5774, an award ceremony for members of a unit cited for excellence.

Regarding the recent blizzard, Gantz stated “it did not take more than a phone call for the IDF to respond with all its resources.”
