The Eida Chareidis tzibur will be holding a tefilla event on Yom Kippur Koton, Wednesday 29 Teves 5774 as the Shaked Committee continues efforts to finalize the new chareidi draft law. Details of the tefilla rally are to be announced.
Pashkavilim circulating in frum areas show there is no compromise in the works and the tzibur at large is not backing down amid threats of criminal and financial consequences to defying the new law.
One of the people targeted in some of the notices is MK Meir Porush, who this week participated in a meeting of the Shaked Committee. The Eida community feels there should not be any cooperation with the committee nor should chareidim be involved in Knesset in any way.

Eida Chareidis is in a much stronger position that groups who have been supporting the medinah for the last 65 years, accepting and coming to depend on state funding, serving in the IDF and alternative “civil” service (after yeshiva) and sitting in the Kenesset. Since they reject the legitimacy of the medinah, and therefore can object to the war as being contrary to halacha, they are able to argue they are conscientious objectors entitled to protection under international human rights laws. Pro-zionists who support settlements and have served in the army in the past are in a weak position to argue against conscription without looking like hypocritical “chicken hawks.”
I predict the Israelis will back down from attempting to conscript anti-zionist hareidim (they would be useless as soldiers since their loyalty couldn’t be assumed), and agreeing that conscientious objectors will have the same rights as Arabs who don’t serve in the IDF, and combining that with an increasing tie between military service and a variety of benefits (including subsidies if attending yeshiva).
The extreme element in Meah Shariim are working again. Everything they fight for is always doomed but they never give up. I remember when they were against women wearing unseamed nylons. I remember when they put up Pashkavilim against women driving. They were against mixed buses.
They were against the computer, they were against the radio, they were against the internet, they were against moving graves.
Anything and every thing that does not correspond to their insular and narrow view they are against. They always lose.
Lessson number 2:
NEVER BELIEVE THE Pashkavilim! No one in their right mind in EY reads them, those who do tend to believe the BS of these perverts.
