A man in his 40’s along with his 5 year-old son, died after they apparently jumped out of a six floor window when a fire swept through their apartment building in Upper Manhattan.
According to multiple sources, the fire started at approximately 9:00PM on the 5th floor at 611 West 148th Street near Riverside Drive.
An FDNY official tells YWN that the father & son were in a 6th floor apartment located directly above the apartment where the fire was.
A total of six other residents and two firemen had minor injuries. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, which was brought under control at 9:30PM.
Residents of the building said late Tuesday night that they expected to be let back into their apartments early Wednesday morning.
