Whitewashing of Wording Results in Bayit Yehudi Support for To’eva Bills

bennBayit Yehudi torpedoed a Yesh Atid bill that was intended to give tax incentive rights to to’eva couples, the same rights enjoyed by heterosexual couples. The bill is of paramount importance for Yesh Atid and the party was unwilling to give up on it, leading to ongoing negotiations with Bayit Yehudi to find a working formula.

Negotiations with Bayit Yehudi’s Yael Shaked continued until an acceptable formula for the bill was reached, now worded to the approval of the dati leumi party. No mention will be made of to’eva couples, but instead it will contain a clause permitting the finance minister to decide to which couples the bill is applicable. This will permit Finance Minister Yair Lapid to apply the new law to to’eva couples, and they too will receive tax incentives.

There is more. Bayit Yehudi has removed its objections to another bill from Yesh Atid’s Dr. Adi Koll. This bill pertains to listing “mother” and “father” on one’s identity card/teudat zehut.

The words “mother” and “father” will be replaced with “parent 1” and “parent 2”. Like the first bill, this bill makes no mention of to’eva couples, now sanitized to Bayit Yehudi’s liking. However, it too is intended for to’eva couples wishing to be listed as parents of children in their identification cards.

The bill is scheduled for a preliminary vote in Knesset on Wednesday, 22 Teves 5774 and it is expected to enjoy the support of all coalition parties.

  1. While Bayit Yehudi’s origins are in a (compromise-prone) religious party (the old “Mafdal”), is it surprising that a party whose primary focus (to the detriment of the rest of their agenda, e.g. support of settlements in the West Bank) is the destruction of the hareidi yeshivos would be inclined to endorse sexual behaviors that are contray to halacha.?

  2. Its the beginning of the end of israel if such toevah laws are allowed to pass. It was no accident that the snow storms, largest ever arrived and destroyed vegetation and peoples property. Poverty in israel is extremely high. The iranian nukes are pointing cv on eretz yisroel and the surrounding arab countries are falling to extremists. Americas president is far from friendly and we must realize why all this is happening. Its easy to blame the secular chilonim for their rebellious behavior of the torah and as Rabbi miller ztl points out we are one people on one boat and sink together. We call ourselves chareidim or are we just dressed like chareidim. Where are the chareidi activists. Why are there only protests when funds are cut with a non real issue about the draft. The issues must be chilul shabbos, toeva parades and the constant import of goyim in order to water down their frum voting power. Why did not a hundred thousand yidden come out in america and israel to protest the first toiva parade in yerushalayim. No one cared except for a few. So chareidim are really not chareidim so why do they deserve funding or exemptions from the army. There are no Rav amrom Blaus ztl to stand up with mesiras nefesh except when it comes to money. If chareidim would come out every shabbos for one hour with a hundred thousand protesters to close rechov neveim and the karta parking lot no israeli leader would dream of drafting chareidim or even cutting their funds. But we don’t. Instead a dozen chareidim protest the rechov neveim streets opening. It doesent bother the masses of a street near a frum area open on shabbos and so the masses are dressed up chareidim but inside like everyone else and the secular Israeli leadership realizes this.

  3. Do Daati Leumi Rabbis have no problem with chumash vayikra being chucked out as not to offend those with strong evil inclinations?

  4. Bayit Yehudi, you have ERRED in a big way.

#1, The old Mafdal and Poali Agudah parties which were the most popular parties for religious voters in the early days of the State of Israel had no connection to settlement building. This component began with the Gush Emunim division that took over the Mafdal/Mizrachi party. Mafdal stood for building Religious Schools, Shuls, protection of religious workers in employment, funding religious kibbutzim and maintaining the status quo for Shabbos, Beis Dins, etc.

  5. If Daati Leumi are regarded as the “religious” soldiers in the army, this article is enough to give the naive ones a glimpse of what the IDF is all about.

  6. What do Shelly Silver, Dovy Lipman & Naftali Bennet have in common? They are all Kofrim Be’Ikarim! They told HKB”H, we don’t need you or your Torah! Times have changed and in todays PC world, the Laws of the Torah no longer apply! These are RISHAYIM and if the true “leaders” had any backbone whatsoever, they would shun these wicked people and STOP BEING MICHANEFF them at every given opportunity!

  7. #7 Voters vote… as we do in USA or in Israel.

As Democrats we do not worship every Democratic law & as Republicans we do not advocate every Republican idea. Same works in Israel, most DATI voters who voted Bayit Yehudi do NOT advocate or worship or even agree with BY voting pattern. And Charedi voters are all not in cahoots how their party engages in politics.

  8. #9 STOP MAKING JUSTIFICATIONS

CALL IT ERETZ CANA’AN OR WORSE

SOME of us saw it coming and tried over and over to alert the world, but most were snoozing till now

    DARK DAYS ARE COMING

    cf. Ramban on Devarim 27:26

One who shirks their obligation to uphold everyone’s Judaism is “Arur”

    #1,3,5,7,8

The most attainable goal now is to alert and Wake Up Yidden seeking Emes.

Rav Aharon Kotler, already warned, that the greatest threat facing Jewry is (not inter-marriage or assimilation, but rather) perversion of the Torah,
    (Mishnas Reb Aharon 1:2,3:6).
