April 7, 2022 7:53 am at 7:53 am #2076423yungermanSParticipantYour health plus your livelihood and everything else in between is 100 percent in the hands of Hashem the king of kings ruler of the world. Turn directly to Hashem for help in your health and all other needs etc…. And stop relying on physical messengers that cannot TRUTHFULLY REALLY help you without Hashems approval. Rather they are doctors or rebbes or segulas or lawyers etc…. And instead go to the most powerful for help in anything Hashem the king of kings ruler if the world.
As a separate note Don’t forget to Thank Hashem for everything after Hashem helps you.

April 7, 2022 11:36 am at 11:36 am #2076485Yserbius123ParticipantFor all these people saying “trust in Hashem!”. What do you do when you break your arm? Daven extra hard?
April 7, 2022 11:38 am at 11:38 am #2076494hujuParticipantIn addition to asking Hashem, as yungerman suggested, ask your doctor, not us yentas on YWN.
April 7, 2022 12:41 pm at 12:41 pm #2076524GadolhadorahParticipantI’d rather solicit psak halacha here on the CR than get medical advice from our resident public health professionals. For many of us the prior vaccinations and boosters have worked well and B’H we have never had any problems with covid. Its so incredibly based on your personal health status that no generalization makes sense.
April 7, 2022 12:42 pm at 12:42 pm #2076532MindfulParticipantYes, ask your doctor, who told you to take the first three shots. Obviously all the people who did not take the shots and are here to tell the tale, cannot know better than the doctor who is just a following protocol, and always complying with whatever the CDC tells him to do, and gives the same one size fits all treatment to all the patients.
April 7, 2022 12:42 pm at 12:42 pm #2076533moishekapoiehParticipantof course you should.
pikuach nefesh comes first.April 7, 2022 4:41 pm at 4:41 pm #2076669moishekapoiehParticipantand if you are in the middle of a street and a truck comes barreling down on you, do you run, or do you stop to daven? even moshe rabbeinu told the jews at one point, this is not the time to daven, this is the time to move on.
April 7, 2022 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #2076687🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantmove on indeed.
You seem to be unaware (as is AAQ if I recall correctly) that pikuach nefesh is not a phrase that means “can be really dangerous, even fatal, to some people”. There are guidelines to determine if something falls under the halacha of being pikuach nefesh and there has been such a crazy misuse of this over the covid years.
You don’t have the option of applying the requirements of how to behave when pikuach nefesh is involved, unless it actually is pikuach nefesh. And by your comments it seems you may not be well versed on these criteria.April 7, 2022 7:32 pm at 7:32 pm #2076760moishekapoiehParticipantand you are well versed? so how come you don’t explain it. it’s just easier to knock someone down, than to say something positive.
you don’t think that after around 1,000,000 americans have died due to corona, it’s not a question of pikuach nefesh? go back to your mommy’s basement and let her take your computer away from you.
feh !April 7, 2022 7:38 pm at 7:38 pm #2076770🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantWell versed enough to inform you that there are specific guidelines and that they must be met in each case. That’s a pretty clear and comprehensive statement. The little I know came from Rabbi Akiva Tatz’s book on dangerous therapeutics.
If you didn’t know that halacha is determined by standards and not your opinion than you are either a fake or very new at learning. Either way, lol to the mommy’s basement. I am the mommy.April 7, 2022 7:51 pm at 7:51 pm #2076775moishekapoiehParticipantif you are truly a mommy, and not a fake, a whoopie goldberg or oprah winfrey or kamala harris or a joan of arc, you are not. let your hubby take away your computer, and start doing the dishes, which you may be capable of.

I presume if you ate 2-3 meals yesterday, but now you are hungry – I hope you are not going to do the same mistake again -I know many people who ate and died within several days! And you need to pay for that expensive food!
His previous shots gave him a year with high antibodies and increasing T-cell immunity at a very low risk. Why not continue training your immune system to better fight the virus without actually encountering it? Especially as the alternative is to periodically encounter the virus itself.
April 7, 2022 9:55 pm at 9:55 pm #2076830Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipantSyag > There are guidelines to determine if something falls under the halacha of being pikuach nefesh and there has been such a crazy misuse of this over the covid years.
I am relying on these psakim, for example:
R Meir Twersky suggesting that while in a regular medical case we should ask a doctor, in a case of new, uncertain, plague, we need to behave according to the most careful of multiple experts, and also more careful than politicians as we are always more careful about human lives than non-Jewish society in general.
R Heinemann: do not try to do anything that can be misconstrued as uncareful behavior so that Jewish community is not judged and then denied treatment by someone. But you are right that estimation of the risk is somewhat subjective and some risky behaviors are accepted in society and Hashem protects simple folks who take small unnecessary risks. This, of course, does not apply to esteemed YWN posters who were exposed to facts (among other posts) and it does not mean that better behavior is not encouraged. Gemora warns us against drinking cups in pairs and walking between palm trees for a presumed danger. Surely, amoraim would not approve a clearly quantifiable danger.
April 7, 2022 9:57 pm at 9:57 pm #2076835🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantAAQ – sorry, your post, although tangential, is sorely off topic.

That is exactly the opposite of what I said. How do you hold yourself so high and then lie about my words and call it a quote? Slimy behavior comes in all forms it seems.
April 8, 2022 12:12 am at 12:12 am #2076863user176ParticipantIt isn’t really so beneficial but it won’t really hurt. I’d say nothing to lose but not really necessary. But I’m not a doctor. Ask your doctor. Parenthetically, I assume everyone here understands the concept of emuna and that these types of discussions are regarding the proper hishtadlut one should perform. No need to point out it’s all up to Hashem which is, of coarse, a given.
April 8, 2022 7:36 am at 7:36 am #2076886commonsaychelParticipantAsk an opinion of a trained professional who you entrusted your health till now? neh not a chance, you are much better off asking bunch of random untrained people on a blog.

Great point!
It is all a conspiracy by Big fooda to get rich.
And would you believe it? the Government says I have to feed my child even though I sadly know of people who died as a result of eating True Aspiration and choking are rare, but why take the chance. Time to get the Government out of our kitchensApril 8, 2022 1:26 pm at 1:26 pm #2076915RockyParticipantI believe that I saw an article in the Harvard Journal of Medicine that discussed whenever someone has a question seeking medical expertise the wisest place to turn is the YWN coffee room. Since we all know that most Doctors are Jews it is most likely that the most competent medical experts will be able to provide their unbiased professional advice in this forum.
April 10, 2022 1:52 am at 1:52 am #2077073Reb ShlomoParticipantI just took the 4th shot last week because medical science says that I have less of a chance of dying from Covid if I take it. Being close to 80 years old I am at risk. Nowhere in halacha does it say that taking the vaccine makes me a less frum yid than someone who refuses to take it. In fact, Rav Chaim Zatzal when asked, paskened that it is a chiyuv and not a reshus to get vaccinated and it is on video for all to see. I do not know of any anti-vaxer who is more frum than the Gadol Hador was.

April 10, 2022 6:52 pm at 6:52 pm #2077251☕️coffee addictParticipantLooks like masks are different than the umpteenth vaccine
Why?
VACCINES SAVE LIVES
Right 🙄 but it used to be
MASKS SAVE LIVES
What changed?
Talking heads are still promoting the vaccine and not promoting masks so the sheeple still think the vaccine will help but not masks (some are still wearing masks though, I guess they didn’t get the memo)
Why is Adams, Hochul, Pelosi, and Obama sick with Covid (please don’t tell me that without the vaccine they would be a lot worse because everyone knows the virus in order to be more virulent it becomes less deadly at least that’s what the same scientists have been saying
April 11, 2022 12:35 am at 12:35 am #2077302Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipantcoffee > virus in order to be more virulent it becomes less deadly
this is a general rule of virus propagation that presumes that a deadlier host either quickly kills most hosts or, in human society, causes more preventive measures. So, it is a statistical, not a biological phenomenon. Given that the current pandemic went thru so many people all over the world with very varying behaviors, this is not perfectly followed: Delta turned out to be worse than Wuhan, but Omicron and BA.2 are indeed weaker.
How is this relevant to the fact that vaccines make it even milder, I am not sure. I don’t know though who is promoting vaccines – US has way lower rates, esp of boosters, than comparable countries and no vaccination is happening. People are literally dying because Trump is not the President – if he were, the press would be reminding us every day how bad things are and more people would vaccinate and wear masks.
Btw, anyone has experience with the new woonder drug – Paxlovid?

is this information getting to the velt, or is it not propagated by people not enthusiastic about the the content? If it does, what do people who disagree say?
