As we enter the final week of New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly’s tenure, many have wondered how the incoming administration will maintain the successes of someone who may have been New York’s most innovative crime fighter. To get a perspective on Kelly’s tenure, Ami Magazine recently met with him at One Police Plaza in the executive command center. In the wide-ranging interview that followed, Kelly discussed everything from terrorism to the “knockout game” to traffic enforcement, looking back at the technological and organizational changes he put in place to make New York a safer place to live and work.
“I don’t think I have any regrets,” Kelly told Ami. But in the interview, he made it clear that he has plenty of ideas.
