Israel Olympic Swimmer Tests Positive for Drugs

Max Jaben, who is scheduled to take part in the 2008 Olympic Games under an Israeli flag, tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. The report is based on a test conducted in the spring. A second test was performed and the results are due this week. If they determine once again that he is under the influence of the illegal drugs, he will be disqualified from taking part in the sporting competition.

In his qualifying trials, the former American broke previous Israeli records, with a 1:49:48 time in the 200 meter freestyle swimming competition. He is slated to take part in the 400 meter competition in the Beijing Olympics.
