Israel Police on Wednesday morning 15 Teves 5774 announced the apprehension of members of a Bnei Brak burglary ring that was operating in the Torah city.
On motzei Shabbos the directors of the משכנות הרועים Yeshiva located on Imrei Chaim Street detected the office was targeted in a break-in. Fortunately the office is equipped with surveillance cameras and the film was turned over to authorities, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.
The surveillance video showed two men in chareidi garb, in Shabbos clothing in this case. They tried turning their faces away from the camera, apparently aware of its presence. However, police were able to detect enough identifying marks to lead to the apprehension of the suspects. The suspects are former bnei yeshivos who are on a different derech today R”L.
The two were arrested in a matter of hours but police did not find the stolen money from the yeshiva, leading to a third suspect. He was apprehended in the Givat Olga neighborhood of Hadera. Police searched the home and vehicle of suspect number three and they recovered clothing that was similar to what they saw on the video along with the stolen cash.
Police report the burglars would drill a very small hole in a safe to permit inserting a fiber optic camera and only after determining the contents were worth the bother did they break into a safe.
Police tie them to the Bnei Brak City Hall safe robbery in which 100,000 NIS was stolen.
