Deri Blames Likud & Its Coalition for Growing Poverty

deriThe latest poverty report released by Bituach Leumi shows that in 2012, there were 817,200 children living under the poverty line. This represents one-third of the nation’s children. The report was released on Tuesday, 14 Teves 5774.

Shas leader Aryeh Deri points a finger of blame at the ruling party, Likud. He pointed out in Knesset that Likud and the coalition remain adamantly opposed the monthly child allowance payments, and cutting them drastically has only increased the number of Israeli children living in poverty.

Deri stated that Likud as the leading party along with Welfare Minister (Yesh Atid) Meir Cohen are responsible for an additional 50,000 children living under the poverty line by their policy decisions.

“The government is a disgrace. It doesn’t know how to deal with snow and it also fails to measure up to the storm of growing poverty” Deri added.

  1. I have been out of work a few times in my life and with Hashem’s help, I have landed on my feet. That being said, the job market today requires computer, math and writing skills Help Hashem help you.

  2. Personally I don’t believe any other government would have succeed in alleviating the problems, trauma, and difficulties of the g-d sent, snow storm.

We have been without power, impassable streets, no public transportation, businesses closed etc. when massive snow storms hit New York. I remember no snow plows, no salting and no school for 3-4 days.

Break up the business monopolies, tax the higher incomes and give monies to the poor, elderly, sick and unemployed.

  3. Has the man no shame? The great majority of Israel’s poor are long-term-non-working people and most of the rest are the undereducated working. Now tell us which party has been working diligently for decades to keep adults undereducated and out of the workforce – Likud or Sha”s?

  4. I guess he never thought of the idea that poverty would be reduced if chareidim would educate themselves a bit more, and perhaps work as well. It seems to be a hallmark of the Shas party to blame everyone but themselves.
