Yesh Atid MK: The Rabbonim Should Bless the Draft Law

idffMK (Yesh Atid) Yoel Rozbozov spoke to Kikar Shabbos following reports the Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael of Degel Hatorah and Agudas Yisrael convened in urgent session to discuss the planned draft of bnei yeshivos.

Rozbozov refers to recent protests against the imprisonment of talmidim who did not report to IDF authorities as “rabbinical violence” and he calls on rabbonim to bless the new draft law. “Instead of sending talmidim to protest a Prison 6 and calling police ‘Nazis’ the rabbis need to give a bracha for the imminent decision on the military draft.”

Rozbozov explains that recent violent protests outside the military prison in addition to verbal assaults in the media against the inclusion of chareidim in the IDF and national service are witness that of late, they [the rabbonim] are only hurting the future economic status of the chareidi tzibur in Israel. He blames the rabbis and their violence.

He insists the rabbonim should be thankful for the expected passage of a new draft law and insists the inclusion of bnei Torah in the IDF or a national service in no way harms their lifestyle as is claimed. “It represents the first stage of their inclusion into Israeli society, the general population. This will permit talmidim to escape the cycle of poverty and support their families honorable” he added.

He concludes expressing concern over growing poverty in the chareidi community and praises the expected draft law which will be a first step in extricating the chareidim from their impoverished lifestyle.

  1. We should be thankful of for the draft law. Hundreds of thousands of very frum Jews who had come to believe that the Medinat Yisrael was a force for good, and whose love of Torah had been diluted by zionism, have seen the light and will do tseuvah and in the future will know to tremble before Ha-Shem, but not to put their faith in the government. We have come to seen that the “Religious” zionists are no more than stealth apikoresim, and will be wary of them in the future.

  2. T am sorry, I thought that there is a moderator for comments on this site. Allowing brash, offensive, and untrue statements such as akuperma’s just boggles the mind, specifically his assertion that “Religious zionists are no more than stealth apikoresim.” There statements constitute Motzi Shem Ra of the highest degree on tens of thousands of Shomerei Torah uMitzvot – not only are you being complicit by not preventing it, but by allowing it to pass to the public forum you are the one disseminating this Lashon haRa to the Rabim. You don’t need to convince me, it’s between you, the RBSHO and the people you are allowing to be slandered. I don’t need to ask mechila from all of them.
