One Jew and one Arab were arrested on Shabbos as Arabs in the Chevron Hills area approached Yishuv Asha’el and according to the community’s security officer, set fields ablaze, resulting in significant loss and damage. The security officer detained a number of Arab suspects found near the community’s perimeter.

According to the Arabs, one of the suspects held was tied and beaten by the Jews, resulting in the arrest of one Jewish suspect who is being held for questioning.

Regional council leader Tzviki Bar-Chai stated it is clear that one side is responsible for the violence and the other side is seeking to defend itself. He added it is simple for one to see since one side was apprehended carrying flammable liquid used in the arson attack.

Bar-Chai is calling upon police to launch a comprehensive investigation.
