1. It’s a little disengenuous of you to use this headline to imply that Russia was responsible for the Babi Yar massacre. Not that Russia has a stellar record of how it has treated Jews, but Babi Yar was the Nazis in collaboration with the Ukrainians, who were notorious antisemites. The Ukrainian police was the major perpetrator of the Holocaust in Soviet territories based on native origins. They killed 150,000 in the Volhin region.

   The article talks about “damaging” Babi Yar center (not where the Kedoshim are buried) but the video shown is about a tv tower. Talk about fake news.
   You can’t trust any news or report coming out of either side. Both Ukraine and Russia are as corrupt as they come.

6. Babi Yar was carried out with help from Ukrainian militia. This in no way excuses Russia’s war of aggression but let’s be clear eyed that this incident is being used as propaganda. Don’t buy into it.

9. In all fairness, many sources have suggested the Russians are not really capable of accurately targeting and are just dropping bombs without regard to where they land. Since deliberately killing civilians is now considered to be a war crime, it is likely that if the Russians get charged their defense will be that were just not good at aiming.

    “Apparently he’s just making sure Hitler’s mission is properly completed”…if you need a refresher in history, the Ukrainians were willing accomplices of the Nazis (and according to some survivors, even more brutal than the actual Nazis), while the Russians liberated Auschwitz and other concentration camps.

    Additionally, during this very war, many website (including this one) are reporting that many non-Jews are sheltering in shuls because they believe that the Russians will not attack there.

    It’s very clear that the Russians here intended to destroy a cell-tower, and that damage to the memorial was an unintended consequence. At the end of the day, it’s a memorial which was built for appearance and not repentance. Most likely, the victims of the Babi Yar massacre are rooting for the Russians and not the Ukrainians.

    LakewoodBT: The Russians have declared a protected “safe zone” within a 50 mile radius around Brighton Beach and Sheepshead Bay. Lakewood is at least 15 miles outside the safe zone, so perhaps consider making pesach with the mishpacha in BP or Willy.

    As to which country’s citizens hate Jews more: It doesn’t matter. We can’t judge world affairs based on such considerations; they’ve all shown themselves to be capable of some really nasty actions towards us. We should want peace and stability in the world. Russia is unilaterally destroying that peace.

18. I noticed a disturbing pattern lately within our community, it has become stylish to defend Putin, it’s almost become dogma that whatever the media feeds you is propaganda. I’m aware that the media is biased most of the time and that they like to spin the narrative the way it suits them best, but in this case i can’t help but feel disgust. Why are we defending Putin an evil man, a former KGB agent, a bully who wants to subjugate his neighbor simply because he has the means to do so. We can argue whether America is to blame in this conflict, but what is undeniable is that Putin is evil and ruthless, a coldblooded murderer who hired mercenaries just the other day to hunt down Ukrainian officials, and will even nuke ukraine if it doesn’t go his way. Why are we defending him? Footage don’t lie, you see how the Russians blow up the memorial in babi yar, but benevolent Putin didn’t intend it? Are you guys for real? How far are we gonna go to defend Putin just to make a point that the media is not trustworthy? Don’t get blinded by right wing or left wing propaganda. stay focused. It doesn’t take an Einstein to realize that Putin is violating human rights, so you may as well stop defending this monster.
