Dovidlel: People came to CPAC to hear about Republicans’ vision for the future. Instead, more than 45 minutes out of a 1hr 20 minute speech was just the same blather about the 2020 election being stolen from him, an assertion dismissed by every judge who heard any of the 63 unsuccessful lawsuits making such allegations, including over a dozen judges HE appointed. One of the funniest points of tonight’s rant was his whining about his own Supreme Court justice appointees disappointing him. His only “policy prescriptions” were the usual hyperbole about “making America great again” and eliminating civil service protections for federal employees who disagree with him (aka the “deep state”). If you came for “entertainment”, it was the usual Trump MAGA circus. If you were hoping for a serious discussion of conservative policy issues, you should be asking for a refund. On the positive side, at least he did (albeit indirectly), criticize Putin and the invasion of Ukraine and did not repeat his comments earlier in the week calling him a “genius” etc.
