He was born in Frankfurt, Germany and was a talmid of the Minchas Elozor, the Munkacher. The Rav in Sopron before him was Rav Menachem Grunwald who passed away in 1929. Sopron, Oberland, was not chasiddish so he had to acclimate himself to the environment. My Rav in Sopron was the son in law of Rav Zitron, Rav Meir Krausz, who became Rav in Sydney, Australia and came afterwards to Monsey.
