Hundreds of cement truck drivers are on strike in New York, stalling work at some of the largest construction projects in the city.

The strike began yesterday and could last through next week. More than 400 cement-truck drivers joined the labor action by Teamsters Local 282.

Local 282 spokeswoman Carolyn Daly said the union could not reach an agreement with the Association of New York City Concrete Producers over wages and working conditions.
