Betar Illit Mayor Meir Rubinstein has instructed city sanitation officials to prepare for snow accumulations as forecasters believe this will be the case in high altitude areas in the Jerusalem area, which includes Gush Etzion.
City Hall is in contact with officials from Israel Electric, Maatz road service, the IDF and emergency first response agencies to coordinate in the event of the area being shut down by snow accumulations.
Residents requiring assistance may phone 106 or 02-5888-006, which operate 24/7. Rubinstein announced his office is doing everything possible to prevent interruptions in electric service to the city during the storm.
City officials issue a warning to drivers to please use appropriate caution when driving during the inclement weather as road conditions are particularly difficult in surrounding areas.
