A derailment in the Binyamina area early Tuesday morning knocked out train service between Tel Aviv and Haifa in both directions. As of the evening rush hour, 17 hours later, the repairs were still ongoing with Israel Railways officials explaining damage to the tracks is extensive.

The thousands of morning rush hour passengers who rely on the train found themselves without a solution since the bus service was unable to accommodate the overflow of AM commuters.
